Pieces of Christmas: WLS 1990

Christmas Shows, Photos, WLS 890AM | Comments (2) Michael J. West @ 10:41 pm

These two incomplete pieces of tape have two different dates…but both are from Lassiter’s 1990 Christmas Show. The reason for it we don’t know - but it doesn’t matter; they keep Bob’s Christmas spirit alive as always.

UPDATE: Here are some photos from key places in Bob’s Christmas stories. A big thanks goes out to Kerry Bennett for the Haddon Ave postcard. Click on the thumbnail to view the full sized photo. Enjoy!

1. Haddon Ave. in Collingswood, NJ. The sign for Boswell’s Gifts can be seen in the bottom right hand corner.
2. 1958 ad for the Lady Schick Razor.
3. Lit Brother’s Department Store in Philadelphia.
4. The Enchanted Colonial Village display at Lit Brother’s.
5. The William Sloane House YMCA in NYC.
6. Bluebeard’s Castle in the Virgin Islands.

Probably the very best, and certainly the very last, of Bob’s legendary Christmas shows. It’s here in two parts.

1986 WPLP Christmas Party Story

Christmas Shows, Monologues, WFLA 970AM | Comments (0) Administrator @ 2:30 pm

One of the funniest “inside radio” stories in the Lassiter playbook, told on the night of the WFLA Christmas party in ‘96. He explains first how he got out of going to the ‘86 party, then how David Fowler caused a scene that proved why radio Christmas parties are a bad idea in the first place.

1988 Christmas Show

Christmas Shows, Monologues, WFLA 970AM | Comments (0) Administrator @ 1:22 am

This is the earliest available Christmas Show, and the shortest, but no less of a classic than the later shows. Bob waxes nostalgic about Santa Claus, childhood, and all the Christmases of his past.

A Christmas Carol

Christmas Shows, WPLP 570AM | Comments (0) Administrator @ 12:23 am

Before there was the Bob Lassiter Christmas show, there was this 1985 special, produced as a Christmas gift to WPLP listeners. Bob had, at the time, been at the station for about three months. This tape is from the personal collection of Michael Serio, Bob’s producer, and is an original soundboard recording rather than an aircheck (thus the high quality). Also of note: David Fowler is the narrator, and Bob’s future wife, Mary, plays Mrs. Cratchit.
