Possibly our shortest clip, but important nonetheless. Lassiter’s in the studio with WPLP General Manager George Joachim, for a round of “Ask the Manager,” and the caller wants to know why Bob gave up his Saturday night show.

There are a few other calls in this short clip from a Friday studio-audience show, but the undisputed highlight is the one from someone impersonating Shorty Obarski (general manager of WTKN), weeping and begging Bob to come back to his station. A classic.

A laugh-out-loud moment from WSUN: a classic call from two classic callers, Rosemary and TJ. Bob introduces them and then just lets them go off on each other.

David Fowler makes a quick call to take issue with Bob’s knowledge of U.S. history. One wonders if he ever found out that he was actually completely wrong, and Bob was completely correct.

These are the short cuts of Bob that Neil Rogers has long used on his radio show. They were probably recorded during Bob’s 1985 tenure at WINZ.

Another short clip from the morning show at WSUN. The police have begun taping conversations among teenagers at Clearwater Beach, searching for obscenities so they can charge the kids with lewd conduct. Bob wonders what constitutes obscenity, and nemesis Fred P. White tries to straighten him out.

Mr. Bourbon (a/k/a The General) calls to compare Newt Gingrich’s mom calling Hillary Clinton a bitch, with Neil Rogers calling Sharon a “psychotic bitch” on WIOD. According to Bob, it’s the kind of caller he truly worries about.

A classic from everybody’s favorite Christian healer, Jacob. Over the telephone, he heals impotency, converts the heathens, warns of homosexuals, and even expels the wedding ring that Bob’s dog Sophie has swallowed. Bob and Jacob also discuss Jacob’s recent wedding to Irma and their single act of procreation.

Bob’s wrong, by the way. It really was Gordon Jump’s character, Mr. Carlson.

Bob and Lou are taking a caller survey and poor Marie calls with a bad connection that just doesn’t do well by her at all. A hilarious classic call from 1998.

This tape is very wobbly, but the gist of it comes through loud and clear: Bob doesn’t like the quality of the calls he’s getting, so he decides to punish the audience by playing Patti Page records.

Two calls on WSUN from an “elderly lady” who loves Bob, but gets offended when he plays that song about “the breaking of the wind.”
